Terms of use

Scope

These terms apply to your use of the GroceryLens iOS app and the GroceryLens Plus subscription. They are an agreement between you and [CONTROLLER_NAME] (“we”). Our address is in the legal notice.

What GroceryLens does

GroceryLens reads your grocery receipts, lists their line items and shows what you spend. Grocery AI answers questions about your own purchases. To use the app, you need an account, which you create with your email address or with Sign in with Apple.

GroceryLens Plus

GroceryLens Plus is a monthly or an annual subscription that renews automatically. You buy it in the app through Apple’s App Store and pay with your Apple Account.

• The price is the one the App Store shows you before you buy. It can differ between countries and App Store storefronts.
• You can try GroceryLens Plus free for 7 days, once per Apple Account. To avoid being charged when the trial ends, cancel at least 24 hours before it ends.
• The subscription renews at the end of each period, after a month or after a year, until you cancel it. Apple charges each renewal no more than 24 hours before the new period starts.
• GroceryLens Plus includes a monthly number of receipt scans and a monthly amount of Grocery AI use. The app shows the number of scans before you subscribe, and it shows how much of your allowance you have used.

Cancellation, refunds and withdrawal

• To cancel, open the Settings app on your iPhone, tap your name, tap Subscriptions, choose GroceryLens Plus and tap Cancel Subscription. Cancelling stops the next renewal.
• Deleting the app or your GroceryLens account does not cancel the subscription.
• Apple’s Media Services Terms govern the purchase, billing, refunds and the right of withdrawal for purchases in the App Store. You request a refund from Apple, not from us.

Without an active subscription

Without an active subscription, GroceryLens is read-only:

• Receipts you have already scanned stay visible, and your spending overview stays available.
• You cannot scan or import new receipts, and you cannot use Grocery AI.
• You can always delete single receipts and your whole account.

AI results can be wrong

GroceryLens reads receipts with an AI model. The model can misread a receipt, miss a line item or choose the wrong category. Check the results, especially the amounts, before you rely on them. The answers of Grocery AI are also generated by AI and can be wrong.

Your account

• You sign in with your email address or your Apple Account, so keep access to it.
• Do not use the app or our server in a way that harms the service, for example with automated mass requests or attempts to bypass the scan allowance.
• You can delete your account at any time in the app’s settings.

Liability

We are liable without limitation for intent and gross negligence, for injury to life, body or health, under the German Product Liability Act (Produkthaftungsgesetz), and where we have given a guarantee.

For slight negligence, we are liable only if we breach an obligation whose fulfilment makes the proper performance of the contract possible in the first place and on whose fulfilment you may regularly rely. In that case, our liability is limited to the damage that is typical for this contract and was foreseeable when it was concluded.

These rules apply to claims for damages and for reimbursement of wasted expenses. Your other statutory rights stay unaffected.

Applicable law

German law applies. If you are a consumer, this choice of law does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory provisions of the law of the country where you have your habitual residence.

Consumer dispute resolution

We are not willing and not obliged to take part in dispute resolution proceedings before a consumer arbitration board.
